Surely if the dozy police targeted the area and arrested a few and locked them up for the night it would stop this behaviour or at least diminish it greatly

I am sure that people have been having Sex in St. Mary's Churchyard and the fields around before King Edwards Road
even existed for at least 600 years. If just one baby was conceived there every month then 7,000 or more Moseleites
would have started life on the grass under the trees or on top of a tombstone.

The big question is "Sex in the Open Air a Sin or Fun" ?

One conception a week seems an alarming rate for a graveyard...

Cross posting - It's one a month not one a week i.e 600 x 12 = 7,200 (600 x 52 = 31,200)

I'm not convinced that Moseley would take to a revival of Dionysian festivals, even if it did mean more babies were born within the welcoming embrace of the Church.

PHEW! One a month is a much more reasonable pace.

Please can we have another youtube video?

Fans of your last film, the all-time classic "Anti-social activities in Highbury Park" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SFC1v6sBhQE have been waiting a long time for a sequel.

Go on, it could be the surprise summer hit.

For those engaged in the copulation I would go with a third option, sinful fun.

For those with no option but to overhear / observe then I think possibly more sin than fun, although with the apparent popularity of the pastime referred to as "dogging" who knows?

I guess if you spend enough time as a voyeur with a pair of binoculars sooner or later
you will see someone committing an act of Fornication & Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.

P.S The churchyard is just opposite the Infamous Moseley Brothel

Why should anyone want to do this sexual things in a graveyard? I would rather spend my £29 and share a room with Mr Henry.

Well perhaps not….

I understand that the High Court in London, yesterday (Friday) have granted the West Midlands Police East LPU
and Birmingham Community Safety Partnership a Section 222 Injunction for Moseley Village, that would make
any Sexual Intercourse in the Churchyard or in any public place within Moseley Village a "Contempt of the Court"

A breach of the injunction order could lead to the arrest and appearance before a High Court Judge, who could
sentence those involved to Lifetime Imprisonment, an unlimited financial penalty or even worse.

MM has more info

Could anything be worse than lifetime imprisonment and an unlimited fine? In reality a ban from the area is more likely.

For committed Moseleyites, a ban from the "centre of the universe" would be worse...

The "contempt of court" part only occurs if you get caught a second time performing the same acts.

My hope that we had got beyond trying to manage things through grand, but ultimately futile, gestures seems to be overly optimistic.

Birmingham Mail : Tougher measures to ban drinking, begging and sex in public in Moseley

The city council and West Midlands Police acted after reports of boozed-up men and women cavorting around St Mary’s Church.

They have now issued a Section 222 order which means anyone caught having sex in public could be fast-tracked to jail.

This Section 222 Injunction seems to have cleared Moseley Village temporary, although I have heard that the drinkers and beggars have been replaced by ladies of the night offering to do business. As expected those involved have been dispersed and are now seen hanging around in Kings Heath and more recently outside Lidl in Balsall Heath. Balsall Heath is in a different Police area so the Section 222 does not apply there.

It would appear that the local Police and the Birmingham Community Safety Partnership together with the Moseley Nimby's have just moved the problem on to other nearby areas. Selly Oak had better look out as that area is likely to become the next target when the students return.

I'm sorry, I've lost you. What is the relationship between students returning to Selly Oak and beggars/ ladies of the night/ sex in Moseley? I can't imagine ladies of the night will view students as a good souce of income, for example.

Sorry wonderingwhy for confusing you I was talking about the professional beggars who having been forced out of Moseley are now looking for new pitches to beg and Selly Oak and students with their loans and grant money are a good bet for handing over cash. I expect in the next few months they will be hanging around outside supermarkets and cash points in the Selly Oak area or do you think they will give up begging, drinking and taking class A drugs overnight and get a job.....

They seem quite happy in Kings Heath so I can't really see why they'd go to Selly Oak.
