He's been recalled to the Chilcot Enquiry, along with a few others, early next year. I'm rather hoping that Wikileaks will throw up some illuminating exchanges that might finally nail him.

Maybe it could replace the statue of Saddam in Baghdad ... Firdos Square looks a bit bear since it got torn down.

I don't really see why he's now warning us about Iran? If it's so bad why didn't he do something about it at the time instead of invading Iraq?

Shouldn't the Middle East Peace Envoy be working his connections with the Libyan government to restore peace to that country?
And here I was, thinking that our Tone has some kind of special friendship with Qaddafi.
What lot of good has that turned out to be?

I think Libya doesn't count as 'Middle East' as it's just North Africa, so outside his remit - although he could probably be talked into it by dangling a dollar.

Anyway, he's busy keeping the faith.

Happy Birthday Mr Blair - for you are 58 today, apparently.
You sounded somewhat panic stricken when I heard you mouthing off on Radio 4 a few days ago.
I do hope you weren't feeling stressed.
The words flowed but, as usual, they were devoid of any meaning or insight.
Something about the Middle East, I think it was, where I'm sure your pals have been donating oodles towards the upkeep of your phoney foundation.
I read with interest something on this forum about you not consulting the minions of the party, of which you were the elected leader, over taking this country to war.
Of course, they were just the domestic cannon fodder to be discarded in your triumphalist dream to make champaign socialism de rigueur throughout the Tory party.
Hats off to you for making the leap of faith in recognising that the Labour Party was still filled with working class conscientious supporters whose hearts leaped at the prospect of having a charismatic communicator, along the lines of Kinnock but with credibility, who would show them what having power could really mean.
You knew that all you had to do was threaten another 18 years out of government and they would follow blindly if you offered a select few the keys to the bank. A salutatory few saw through you - those who were 'Honourable' members of parliament - but most didn't have the guts or the gumption to get off the gravy train you were stoking to challenge your self-serving journey to writing the book that Tory MPs were advised to read on holiday.
So, happy birthday, once again.
I wonder where it was you celebrated your success? Probably not in the UK as you didn't really think much of this country, did you?

there is something rather strange about blair now, as a former PM of young age he should be much more well influential, you get the idea it is all lip service.

most of the party have put those years behind, some very good things done, some not so good but now it all seems like he never had his heart in it to really push radical reform with two whopping majorities

too conservative eh ?

Self-absorbed, more like it.
Things of interest to everyone else can wait til mañana, or forever.

Here's a line that sums it up:
Sir Kevin Tebbit, then a top official at the Ministry of Defence, warned the defence secretary, Geoff Hoon, in January 2003 that the US would "feel betrayed by their partner of choice" if Britain did not go along with the invasion.
For Bliar then, the choice was between betraying the maniacs in the White House, or betraying the people of Britain.
I hope this news brings the possibility of court and jail a step closer.

I think Ian is probably right. Blair is too big to boogy and there will be little inclination from any side to 'do' him.
The idea that this can be swept away by Labour as being New Labour - to which they didn't subscribe - is frankly farcical.

I don't think Blair should actually go to jail; I think he should be required to live in Iraq and do Community Payback until everything's fixed.
And my main reason for banging on about some sort of legal proceedings is so that party members understand just what it is that has cost them my vote. Pur Blair in the dock and I'll consider voting Labour again. I don't know the extent to which people who support Salma et al, feel the same way, but I do hope that some group of people keeps the transgressions of the Blair era from being swept under the carpet. If you look at the comments on the Telegraph story, a fair few are keeping up the drumbeat.
